Porsche Thailand Unveils Four Groundbreaking Models at Motor Expo 2024: A New Era of Performance and Electrification
Bangkok, Thailand – December 5, 2567 – Porsche Thailand has set the stage for an electrifying automotive future with the grand unveiling of four highly anticipated models at the prestigious Thailand International Motor Expo 2024. This year’s exhibition marks a significant moment for the brand, showcasing its unwavering commitment to innovation, performance, and sustainable luxury. From the record-breaking Taycan Turbo GT to the all-electric Macan and the refined 911 Carrera and Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, Porsche is redefining automotive excellence for the discerning Thai market.
Mr. Tim Walkowiak, Regional Director of Porsche Asia Pacific, expressed his excitement: “This year’s Motor Expo is particularly special. It’s a year where Porsche has achieved remarkable milestones, from the first regional assembly of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid directly for Thailand, to the announcement of Asia’s first Porsche Design Tower in Bangkok. Thailand continues to be a truly inspiring market for us. Today, we are thrilled to present our latest generation of electrified sports cars, including the all-new, all-electric Macan and the comprehensively revised Taycan, alongside other exceptional sports car models at the 2024 Motor Expo, to cap off a phenomenal year.”
The Taycan Turbo GT: A New Benchmark in Electric Performance
The undisputed star of the show is the Taycan Turbo GT, a marvel of engineering that has shattered lap records at three of the world’s most iconic race circuits: Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in North America, the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Europe, and the Shanghai International Circuit in Asia. Its arrival in Thailand is a testament to the growing appetite for high-performance electric vehicles in the region.
The Taycan Turbo GT redefines electric propulsion with its advanced inverter technology, featuring silicon carbide components in the rear-axle motor. Both variants boast an astonishing 1,034 horsepower as standard, with the ability to unleash an extraordinary temporary boost of up to 120 kW (approximately 1,100 hp) via the ‘Attack Mode’ for unparalleled acceleration and overtaking capabilities. This extreme performance is complemented by a rigorous focus on lightweight construction, shaving off up to 75 kilograms compared to the Taycan Turbo S. The standard inclusion of the performance-tuned Porsche Active Ride suspension system further enhances its dynamic prowess and ride comfort.
Beyond the Turbo GT, Porsche is also showcasing other enhanced Taycan models at the Motor Expo. These vehicles have undergone comprehensive revisions, offering increased power, extended range, even faster acceleration, and improved charging speed and stability. The design has been sharpened, creating a more distinct visual identity, particularly for the Turbo variants. All Taycan models now come with an even richer standard equipment list and feature the latest Porsche Driver Experience, offering a fully digital display, extensive customization options, and an intuitive user interface.
The All-Electric Macan: The Future of Electric SUVs Arrives in Thailand
Following its exclusive preview at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Bangkok, the all-new electric Macan makes its public debut at the Motor Expo. As Porsche’s first all-electric SUV, it embodies the brand’s timeless design language, distinctive driving dynamics, extended range, and everyday usability, perfectly meeting the demands of SUV enthusiasts.
The E-Performance figures of the new Macan are nothing short of spectacular. The Macan can generate an output of up to 265 kW (360 PS), while the top-of-the-line Macan Turbo delivers an immense 470 kW (639 PS). Torque figures range from 563 Nm to a staggering 1,130 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in a brisk 5.7 seconds for the Macan, and an astonishing 3.3 seconds for the Macan Turbo.
Built on Porsche’s newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, the electric Macan supports DC charging with a maximum output of up to 270 kW. This allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes under optimal conditions. AC charging at a maximum of 11 kW is also supported for convenient home charging.
The exterior design of the electric Macan is immediately recognizable as a Porsche, with flowing lines leading to a flat rear window. The redesigned headlights, featuring four-point LED daytime running lights and optional matrix LED main modules, create a sleeker, more athletic appearance. The signature raised wheel arches, characteristic of Porsche, give the front and rear a powerful stance. At the rear, the Porsche lettering is centrally integrated into a 3D light strip.
The all-electric powertrain has enabled a longer wheelbase for the new Macan, translating into more spacious interior and increased luggage capacity. Depending on the model and configuration, the rear luggage compartment can hold up to 540 liters. Additionally, a ‘frunk’ located under the front hood provides an extra 84 liters of storage.
The interior exudes a distinct Porsche character, with its width emphasized by a seamlessly integrated black panel. Alongside the modern digital interface, including a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster, select analog controls for air vents and climate control are retained. An ambient and communication light strip runs across the cabin and doors, enhancing the atmosphere and providing information.
The Iconic 911 Carrera: Enhanced Performance and Timeless Appeal
Porsche also introduces the updated 911 Carrera to the Thai market, a legendary sports car that receives significant enhancements. The 911 Carrera now features a revised 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine, drawing technology from the 911 GTS’s turbochargers and the 911 Turbo’s advanced intercooler. This potent combination delivers an increased output of 290 kW (394 PS) and 450 Nm of torque.
The 911 Carrera Coupé now accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono package), reaching a top speed of 294 km/h, showcasing a notable leap in both speed and overall performance.
The evolutionary design extends to the exterior, with aerodynamic refinements including a new model-specific front end featuring larger air intakes. Standard LED matrix headlights, integrating all light functions into a sleek four-point design, further enhance its iconic silhouette.
Inside, the 911 retains its quintessential design ethos while embracing modern technology. The new Porsche Driver Experience centralizes key functions around the steering wheel, including the drive mode selector and updated control buttons for assistance systems. Notably, the start button is now positioned to the left of the steering wheel, a nod to classic motorsport tradition.
The Coupé model comes with two seats as standard, with an optional 2+2 seating configuration available at no extra cost. The customizable 12.6-inch digital display offers seven different display modes, including a classic five-dial layout with a central tachometer, blending retro charm with contemporary functionality.
The All-New Panamera 4 E-Hybrid: Electrified Luxury and Dynamic Sophistication
The new generation of the Porsche Panamera arrives with a comprehensive redesign of its exterior and interior, alongside significant advancements in plug-in hybrid technology and innovative features. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid on display at the Motor Expo integrates a new electric motor within its redesigned 8-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, delivering impressive performance with a combined system output of 346 kW (470 PS). It also boasts an all-electric range of up to 91 kilometers (WLTP), more than sufficient for daily urban commutes.
Porsche equips all Panamera variants with a two-chamber air suspension and two-valve control dampers featuring Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. An optional, innovative Porsche Active Ride suspension is available for E-Hybrid models, offering exceptional cornering grip and dynamic performance without compromising on ride comfort.
The new Panamera range features a sleeker, more athletic, and contemporary design. The front end is characterized by standard Matrix LED headlights and additional horizontal air intakes compared to its predecessor. At the rear, a continuous light strip and a frameless rear window lend the Panamera a distinct and sophisticated presence.
The interior and cockpit have been re-imagined with a 12.6-inch digital display, the new gear selector to the left of the steering wheel, and an optional 10.6-inch passenger display, all designed to elevate the overall experience for driver and occupants alike.
