Porsche Thailand Unleashes a New Era of Performance and Electrification at Motor Expo 2024
Bangkok, Thailand – December 5, 2567 – In a landmark event for automotive enthusiasts in Thailand, Porsche has dramatically redefined the landscape of luxury performance vehicles with the unveiling of four groundbreaking new models at the prestigious Motor Expo 2024. This year’s showcase signifies a pivotal moment for the iconic German marque, blending its rich heritage of engineering excellence with an ambitious vision for the future of electric mobility. Porsche’s commitment to the Thai market is further underscored by significant regional achievements and upcoming developments, solidifying Thailand’s position as a key inspiration and growth engine for the brand in the Asia-Pacific.
Mr. Tim Walkowiak, Regional Director of Porsche Asia Pacific, articulated the significance of this year’s Motor Expo. “This exhibition is particularly special for Porsche. It’s a year where we’ve achieved many milestones, from the first assembly of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid in the region, directly serving the Thai market, to the announcement of the first Porsche Design Tower in Asia, right here in Bangkok.” He continued, “Thailand truly is an inspiring market for us this year. Today, we are thrilled to present the latest generation of our sporty electric vehicles, including the all-new, fully electric Macan, and the comprehensively updated Taycan. Alongside these, a host of other exceptional sports cars will be on display at the Motor Expo 2024, marking a fitting conclusion to a remarkable year.”
The Taycan Turbo GT: A New Benchmark in Electric Performance
Headlining Porsche’s presence is the awe-inspiring new Taycan Turbo GT, a performance behemoth that has already etched its name in the annals of motorsport history by shattering lap records at three prestigious circuits across three continents: Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in North America, the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Europe, and the Shanghai International Circuit in Asia. Its arrival in Thailand marks a triumphant return for the electric performance champion.
The Taycan Turbo GT 2025 is engineered with an even more powerful and efficient inverter, featuring silicon carbide components for the rear electric motor. Both models deliver a standard output of 1,034 horsepower. However, with the engaging ‘Attack Mode,’ they can unleash a temporary peak output of 120 kW (approximately 1,100 horsepower), providing exhilarating bursts of acceleration for overtaking.
Porsche’s relentless pursuit of weight optimization has resulted in the Taycan Turbo GT being up to 75 kilograms lighter than its Taycan Turbo S predecessor. As standard, both variants are equipped with the performance-tuned Porsche Active Ride suspension system, further enhancing dynamic capabilities and driver engagement.
Beyond the halo GT model, the entire Taycan lineup has undergone significant enhancements. Porsche has meticulously refined every aspect, offering increased power, extended range, faster acceleration, and improved charging speed and stability. The design language has also been sharpened, with distinct visual cues that further differentiate the Turbo models, projecting an even more aggressive and aerodynamic stance.
Every new Taycan model benefits from an enhanced list of standard equipment and the latest Porsche Driver Experience. This includes a fully digital display, extensive customization options, and an intuitive user interface designed for seamless interaction. The focus on driver-centric technology ensures that the spirit of Porsche’s racing pedigree is palpable in every journey.
The All-Electric Macan: A Revolution in the SUV Segment
Following its exclusive preview in a refined setting at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Bangkok, the all-new, all-electric Macan makes its public debut at the Motor Expo 2024. This marks a monumental shift as Porsche’s first-ever fully electric SUV, embodying timeless design, signature Porsche performance, impressive range, and everyday practicality. The new electric Macan is crafted to meet the evolving demands of Porsche SUV clientele who seek an unparalleled blend of sportiness and utility.
The performance figures speak volumes about its advanced E-Performance capabilities. The Macan can generate up to 265 kW (360 horsepower), while the top-tier Macan Turbo boasts an astonishing maximum output of 470 kW (639 horsepower). Torque figures range from a substantial 563 Nm to an earth-shattering 1,130 Nm. Acceleration is equally breathtaking, with the standard Macan reaching 0-100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, while the Macan Turbo electric SUV accomplishes the same sprint in a mere 3.3 seconds.
Built upon Porsche’s newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, the new Macan EV offers exceptional charging capabilities. DC fast charging can reach up to 270 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes under ideal conditions. AC charging at a maximum of 11 kW is also available for convenient home charging.
The exterior design of the new Porsche Macan electric is instantly recognizable, featuring characteristic Porsche lines that flow seamlessly into a flat rear window. The redesigned headlights, with their four-point LED daytime running lights and optional advanced Matrix LED main modules, contribute to a sleeker, more athletic profile. The pronounced, raised wheel arches are a classic Porsche trait, lending a muscular presence to both the front and rear. At the rear, the prominent Porsche lettering is centrally integrated into a striking 3D light bar.
As a fully electric vehicle, the new Macan SUV benefits from an extended wheelbase, translating into increased interior space for occupants and enhanced luggage capacity. Depending on the model and equipment, the rear luggage compartment can hold up to 540 liters. Furthermore, a convenient ‘frunk’ – a storage compartment located under the front hood – provides an additional 84 liters of space.
The interior exudes a distinct Porsche character, with a spacious ambiance emphasized by a cohesive black panel design. Alongside a modern digital interface, including a curved 12.6-inch instrument display, select analog controls for air vents and climate functions are retained for tactile feedback. An ambient LED light strip integrated into the cabin and doors serves both for mood lighting and communication signals.
The Iconic 911 Carrera: Enhanced for a New Generation
Porsche continues to uphold the legacy of its legendary 911 with significant upgrades, starting with the foundational new 911 Carrera. This iconic model now features a redeveloped 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine. Enhanced with turbochargers derived from the 911 GTS and an advanced intercooler system from the 911 Turbo, the new 911 Carrera now produces an impressive 290 kW (394 horsepower) and 450 Nm of torque.
This power boost allows the 911 Carrera Coupé to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds (or 3.9 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package), reaching a top speed of 294 km/h. These figures underscore the significant improvements in both speed and overall performance.
The design enhancements extend across the entire vehicle. Aerodynamics have been meticulously optimized, featuring a model-specific front end with larger air intakes. The standard LED Matrix headlights, integrated into a sleek, four-point design, consolidate all lighting functions.
Inside, the 911 retains its signature design ethos while embracing modern technology. The new Porsche Driver Experience places key functions within easy reach of the steering wheel. This includes the drive mode selector, updated controls for assistance systems, and, for the first time, a start button positioned to the left of the steering wheel, echoing a motorsport tradition.
The Coupé model comes standard with two seats, with an optional 2+2 seating configuration available at no additional cost. The customizable 12.6-inch digital display offers seven distinct viewing modes, including a classic five-dial design with a central tachometer, adding a retro touch to the contemporary cabin.
The All-New Panamera 4 E-Hybrid: Electrifying Luxury and Performance
The Porsche Panamera enters a new generation, boasting a comprehensive redesign of its exterior and interior, alongside significant advancements in plug-in hybrid technology and innovative features. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid on display at Motor Expo 2024 is equipped with a new electric motor integrated into the 8-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. This refined powertrain delivers impressive performance, with a combined system output of 346 kW (470 horsepower). Furthermore, it offers a substantial all-electric range of up to 91 kilometers (WLTP), more than sufficient for daily urban commuting.
Porsche has equipped all Panamera variants with standard 2-chamber air suspension and 2-valve control valves featuring Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). An innovative optional upgrade is the new Porsche Active Ride suspension, which provides exceptional handling and cornering capabilities, coupled with a superior level of ride comfort, particularly for the E-Hybrid models.
Every new Panamera model presents a more dynamic, agile, and contemporary design. The front fascia is characterized by standard Matrix LED headlights and additional horizontal air intakes compared to its predecessor. At the rear, the continuous taillight strip and frameless rear window give the new Panamera luxury sedan a distinctive and commanding presence.
The redesigned interior and cockpit feature a 12.6-inch digital display, a new gear selector positioned to the left of the steering wheel, and an optional 10.6-inch passenger display, all aimed at elevating the overall experience for both driver and occupants.
